After a short stint in the hospital, Don has returned home to recover after his surgery.

February Meet is scheduled for February 13th.

Hi Doowop Fans, I received approval today for our February meet. It again is to be held at Captiva Rec. center from 6pm till 9pm. The date is February 13th , Saturday evening. I have some plans to upgrade your experience this month. Instead of relying on the rec. centers sound equipment I have contracted with the Professor at the Wizard of Rock & Roll Castle to borrow some of their DJ. equipment. We will again have some trivia questions with prizes of unspeakable value, But in addition, I have a new game for you called "Rate the Record". This will involve listening to several recordings of the same song sung by different groups. Then you will vote on your favorite. I won't go into further details now but there will be cash prizes. I am not providing the cash, you are, by paying a dollar to vote for your choice of group. If you are interested in playing, please bring along some dollar bills (2). Initial meeting proclaimed successful by attendees

The first meeting of the Club had a few early hitches but was enjoyed by those attending. The clubs sound system was somewhat disappointing but we managed to have great sing along events and trivia questions. Prizes were described as prizes of unspeakable value by DJ Ken. Participants staked their claim on many of these prizes. Next months meeting is already in the planning stage. I will have to initiate a room request from the Villages rec dept. and then I will announce the date and location. To make things better the second time out I have secured the loan of some of the Castle DJ equipment from "The Wizard of Rock & Roll" . Also besides trivia questions there will be a new game called "Your opinion matters" See you soon DJ Ken

First meeting of the club is set.

I received the approved facility permit today from The Villages Rec department. So far this is only for the first meeting, nothing ongoing just yet. It is scheduled for January 9th (Saturday) from 6pm till 9pm. It will be held at Captiva Recreation center at 658 Pinellas place. This is a newer rec center located just south of 466A. Pinellas place is off of Morse boulevard. This club is not official yet, we still have to go through the survey process in the rec news part of the Daily Sun. But in the mean time we can get organized and have some fun. At this first get together, I hope to get some folks to form a sort of steering committee for the club. We will talk about this and other club information before 7 pm. Then we will open the doors to the Doowop shop and play some music. I will take requests and dedications, and I will have some doowop trivia questions where prizes will be awarded. Our featured group of the week will be "The Paragons". Hope to see you there DJ Ken
